Domains: What is domain redemption status?

This article provides you with information regarding domain redemption.

Redemption is the status that most TLDs enter if they are not renewed in time.

When the domain expires, your website and mail service will stop functioning, and no changes can be made to the domain. If you do not renew the domain name within the renew grace period, it enters a redemption period at the Registry. At this stage, the domain may be placed into the auction and then auctioned off by the upstream vendors.

If your domain is in a redemption state and you would like to reactivate it, submit a ticket or contact us via the Live chat providing your domain and account details.

PLEASE NOTE: No changes can be made to expired domains, including contact details update. A domain redemption fee will be applicable if you would like to renew the domain after it expired. Redemption fees vary per domain but can cost from  R500 to R5000
